Williams Mullen is seeking a Trusts & Estates paralegal for our Richmond, VA office who will establish and maintain strong relationships with trustees, executors, beneficiaries, investment advisors, accountants, insurance agents, appraisers and court officials throughout the process of administering assigned trusts and estates.
Trust duties include:
Drafting tax returns, inventories, accounts, and related supporting information and related documentation for property transfers and distributions.
Coordinating periodic income and principal distributions from trusts and the transfer of assets into trusts.
Maintaining financial records or trusts.
Preparing schedule of allocations to trusts under will
Distributing trust assets at termination of the trust
Estate duties include:
Preparation of all paperwork necessary for admitting testamentary documents to record with the court and qualification of personal representative.
Determine location and titling of decedent’s assets based on records and assist Executor or administrator with collection and valuation of assets.
Maintain records for estate investments.
Drafting or assistance with drafting affidavits, statements, schedules, settlements, orders, tax returns, accountings and documents to effect transfer and distribution of assets to beneficiaries.
Real estate background and experience handling general corporate and tax filings a plus
Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or related paralegal certificate preferred
• 3+ years of experience in trusts & estates and working in law firm environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to Manage and Prioritize Multiple tasks with multiple files on an ongoing basis
