General Statement of Duties
Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, May 13, 2024.
Performs independent clerical duties for the Henrico Circuit Court Clerk's Office; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Serves as a Deputy Clerk in the Civil Division.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting customers in person, via phone and via email
Receipting and processing new cases
Receiving and processing pleadings
Issuance of notices, subpoenas, capias' and writs
Opening and distributing daily mail
Indexing and scanning documents
Duties may also include:
Processing bond forfeitures and garnishments
Processing court orders
Processing/ managing reimbursement vouchers
Preparing and submitting records for cases on appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court and Virginia Court of Appeals
Composing written correspondence in response to requests from other agencies, attorneys, and the general public
Updating automated case management system with case dispositions
Performing a myriad of other duties and/or special projects as necessary at the discretion of the Clerk of Circuit Court
Demonstrated skills in:

Multi-tasking in fast-paced environment

Public relations/customer service
Utilization of state-of-the-art technology and work proficiency
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with some work experience in the Court system or the legal field; OR Graduation from high school and four (4) years of responsible clerical work experience, preferably in the Court system or the legal field; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
Expected hiring range will be at the lower end of the listed pay scale.
