* Job Duties The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's (DEQ), Division of Water Permitting is looking for a qualified individual to coordinate water compliance and inspection programs within DEQ and among the Regional Offices.
Additionally, duties include developing and ensuring consistent application of policy, procedure, guidance, and regulation; providing training opportunities to staff and updates on water compliance and inspection matters; participation with EPA, other agencies, and organizations concerning water compliance matters; and to manage and ensure compliance with State and EPA policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Additionally ensuring the proper development and implementation of electronic reporting and recordkeeping programs for Central Office compliance staff and running the external wastewater training operator training and certification classes offered by DEQ.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of water compliance and inspection regulatory policies, procedures, and techniques.
Knowledge of technologies pertaining to industrial processes and associated water pollution control.
Knowledge of State and Federal water pollution control laws and regulations.
Experience in directing/coordinating environmental regulatory programs.
Knowledge of automated data management.
Skill in accessing and using database information, organizational management, leadership, financial grants management, negotiation, effective oral and written communication skills.
Additional Considerations Experience in environmental or civil engineering, natural science, physical science or related field or a combination of work experience and education demonstrating an equivalent technical background.
Demonstrated knowledge of DEQ Leadership and Management Competencies: demonstrates self-awareness, develops others, thinks strategically, and cultivates work relationships; and understands the business, achieves results, communicates proficiently, and applies technical skills.
Experience in coordinating a statewide environmental program.
Experience in State and or Federal water compliance and/or permitting requirements.
Must complete or provide certification of previous completion of the following National Incident Management (NIMS) courses: ICS 100; ICS 700 Special Instructions You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
