Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Division of Urology in the Department of Surgery is the pursuit of excellence in surgical care by constant innovation and education to give every patient the best care.
Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Surgery, Division of Urology is recruiting for an open rank, term faculty position in the field of urology.
This is a key leadership position both in Surgery and the Health system.
This individual will lead an internationally renowned division to success in the tripartite mission of research, education and clinical excellence.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in all aspects of urological oncology to partner with Massey Cancer Center.
Position Responsibilities: Administrative As Chair for the Division of Urology, responsibilities will include and will not be limited to the management of a growing urologic multi-disciplinary practice at multiple locations and administrative management of the Division of Urology.
This position will also be responsible for mentoring junior faculty.
Clinical The faculty member will develop a robust practice in urological oncology and clinical trials program.
They will continue to expand the clinical expertise and practice of the divisional faculty.
Teaching The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in all areas of urology for medical students and residents.
Research The faculty member will be responsible for participating in and developing clinical trials for urological oncology along with Massey Cancer Center.
Partnership with colleagues in basic and translational science is expected.
Development of extramural funding is encouraged, and this key leadership role will focus on mentoring other faculty in this endeavor.
Supporting medical students and residents in research endeavors is a key requirement of this role.
Service The faculty member will serve on departmental and hospital committees as assigned and participate in regional and national professional organizations.
Required Qualifications: Must be board certified/board eligible in urology Completion of fellowship in urologic oncology or robotic surgery Commitment to medical education and teaching Leadership experience with demonstrated evidence of successful team building Commitment to clinical research and innovation Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Ability to work in a complex matrixed environment with high emotional intelligence International and national stature in the field Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of financial operations, coding, and billing Deep understanding of urological clinical operations ORP Eligibility: Yes Position Type: Clinical Full time equivalent: 1.
