General Statement of Duties
Under the guidance of the Critical Response teacher, provides instructional or behavioral support with the implementation of the Behavior Learning & Support Services (BLISS) program.
Provides de-escalation and behavior support as needed.
Essential Duties
Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students
Assists with classroom management and behavior modification
Assists with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities
Assists students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to, hygiene, diapering, toileting and wash-up routines
Assists students with mobility needs such as, lifting and positioning students, lifting in and out of wheelchairs; and loading and unloading the bus and operates adaptive equipment
Collects data on student performance and progress
Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials
Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolution
Assist with implementation of behavior management plans
Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-up
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in special education classrooms; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment; ability to operate adaptive equipment; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators.
Must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and
Passing score - 455 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (HCPS website for testing information), or a minimum of 42 credit hours from an accredited college/university; and
Paraprofessional autism certification is required or must be completed within 60-days of hire.

Additional Information
The minimum salary for this 10-month/ 204-day/7.
25 hour per day position is $25,647.
The annual salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date.
