Mullet with wheels, reliable and lovable!
This 2003 Subaru Baja, known as lil Bertha, is a delightful ride.
I am so, so sad to be parting with this lil dreamboat and would not be doing so if didn’t have to for a big move.
She is a sweet old beast with a young heart.
The transmission is automatic and the vibes are immaculate.
The ac and heat work super well, she will keep you comfy af in all weather and she’s got the all wheel drive to get you there.
The sunroof is in tip top shape and has never had an issue, but it will help you work on your tan if you so desire.
An after-market stereo will pump the jams and is ready with the Bluetooth so you cam bump the D’Angelo deep cuts.
The extendable tailgate is cool as hell and is easily removable to fit your needs.
It can be used as a headboard for camping, and can be pulled out without tools to accommodate that couch you found in the alley.
The roof rack is ideal for kayaks - you can walk your boat up through the bed for super easy roof access.
Bertha is an old girl and she is not in perfect shape.
She has been showered with love, attention, and some rad stickers.
She shows her age FOR SHORE, there are scuffs and scars, but no major body damage.
She spent her youth out west, and doesn’t have that deep rust crust of old east coast rides.
The engine is a remanned one newly installed in 2021 - the 211724 miles on the body don’t reflect the youth of the engine! A new alternator was installed in 2023.
She has pep and will keep on truckin’ for long time coming.
You have many, many miles to go before she will need any major service.
The entire fuel system was replaced in January of 24, lines, tank and all.
The suspension has been partially replaced (2023) for a smooth ride.
She needs a new catalytic converter - the check engine light stays on for this reason.
I have a code reader- if you are seriously interested you are free to use this for yourself and do your own homework.
The seats are comfy, but are not beautiful- the stitching has popped in some spots and the driver seat has been patched.
Seat covers may be the ticket to keep the style on point.
The drivers seat is power adjusted, the passenger is manual.
For the giants out there - if you are taller than 6’3” she is kind of uncomfortable to drive, or so I am told.
Judge for yourself.
Leg room in the passenger seat is very substantial.
This car will make you look cool as hell, whether you like it or not.
TL;DR:
Great mechanical condition, newer engine, new alternator
211724 miles on the body, automatic, AWD
Needs a catalytic converter, runs fine with the old one in there
No major accidents, no problem rust
Aftermarket bluetooth stereo
Comes with a fresh oil change
A damn fine car for a damn fine driver
