Do you want to be comfortable on long drives and need to fit all the people and things in a midsize SUV? The VW Atlas is the car for you.
I won many, “You aren’t going to fit that in there.
” challenges.
Including when the husband did not think we could fit a sleeper sofa inside.
This Atlas has the towing package, Full moon roof, keyless entry, push button start, 8 inch infotainment system with Apple/Android (think it looks better than the 2024 Pilot & 2023 Traverse), rain-sensing wipers, lots of USB ports and cup holders, full 12v outlet (so the husband can plug in the work computer easily on long trips), heated front seats, rear sunshades, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, power liftgate (wave your foot to open), remote start, front park assist, lane keeping assist, 8-way power front seats, splash guards, side & cross rails, Atlas rubber & carpet floor mats.
0-60 mph - 7.

1 We purchased this great car from VW Broad in Spring of 2018 and I have loved him.
Only replacing him because we need AWD for northern winter driving.
I have had a very hard time finding a replacement that checks the boxes this car checks.
It took me months.
I apparently have a “princess and the pea” sensitivity to car seats and am picky with other things.
I had spreadsheets and took photos of every car I considered.
Why can’t automakers have comfortable seats and use their storage space well? My Atlas is very comfortable and roomy.
The almost 6 ft kid still chooses to ride in the 3rd row sometimes.
We have fit 7 full sized people many times as well.
The backup camera is clear and covers a wide view.
The safety features like blind spot, lane keep assist, front park assist, and adaptive cruise control have been great.
They aren’t annoying or overbearing like they can be in other cars.
I got all of the recommended maintenance done at VW on Broad St.
Most of my oil changes were done at Complete Automotive.
Had my alternator and battery replaced in January of 2023.
The husband complains that I drive like an old lady.
No accidents.
Thank you safety features when the kids distracted me.
I had an auto technician tell me last year he was shocked that my Atlas was a 2018 due to how clean and well maintained it was.
I was really surprised he told me that most other people don’t take care of their vehicles.
The adaptive cruise control has been fantastic on our many long road trips.
This is a feature I was surprised wasn’t in the husband's new car.
I set the speed on the highway and expected it to slow down when it sensed there was a car ahead of us like my Atlas does.
It did not.
Price recommended by Autotrader/Kelly Blue Book The 2018 Atlas 8” infotainment looks better than the 2024 Pilot and 2023 Traverse.
He is also similar in size on the outside but significantly bigger on the inside than all the current midsize SUVs except 3.
