The Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (DBHDS) is the agency responsible for overseeing the Commonwealth’s behavioral health, substance use disorder, and developmental disability service delivery system.

We are currently seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to plan, conduct, and coordinate performance audits for DBHDS central office, mental health facilities, and related programs performed at Community Service Boards across the Commonwealth.
In addition, this position conducts projects that evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of agency operations, control environment, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and established policies and procedures; assists in the development of work paper formats, audit programs and in the preparation of the Draft and Final audit reports; and performs annual follow up audits, conducts hotline and internal investigations, and completes other special projects as requested by management.
This position also participates in the quality assurance activities and reviews required by the IIA Standards.
This position is approved for 100% telework.
However, it’s responsible for audits and special projects that require travel to CSBs and DBHDS facilities, including frequent overnight travel.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in planning and conducting a variety of different audits independently, developing and communicating findings and recommendations to management, applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and professional internal auditing standards, analyzing data to arrive at logical conclusions, and identifying and proposing solutions to problems.
Experience in planning and conducting hotline projects and investigations.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple concurrent audits, meet reasonable timeframes for project completion, establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency officials, employees, and partnership contacts.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as human relations skills.
