Shurm Homes seeks a full-time Accountant to lead the accounting department by providing immediate and exceptional customer service and bookkeeping to ensure compliance with general accounting guidelines using IHMS/Mark Systems, Gemini, Microsoft excel, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Standardize policies and procedures in the accounting department within Shurm Homes.
Point of contact for all vendors with a same day return email, phone call policy.
Review and process invoices and purchase orders with correct coding.
Help maintain vendor files and orientation for new vendors.
Process real estate transactions in BrokerWolf software
Process real estate commissions and release to agents.
Process bank deposits and construction draws.
Cross training in other departments as needed.
Support Rental Home portfolio management.
Handling Incoming/Outgoing mail.
Knowledge and understanding of residential real estate accounting principles a MUST.
Notary public a plus!
Conduct all business professionally and ethically as a representative of Shurm Homes.
Be a team player providing support and cross training for other departments.
Customer service oriented- must be patient, professional and courteous.
Strong verbal and written skills, and detail oriented.
Self-Starter with great organizational skills and time management skills.
Knowledge of current design trends in Richmond and nationally a plus.
Fast learner and willingness to learn and be able to multi-task and establish priorities.
Education Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and relevant work experience.
Excellent with math and spreadsheets.
Currently working as a controller/accountant.
